About

NDNA’s mission is to lead and empower the sector so that nurseries and the early years workforce deliver sustainable, high quality care and learning.

Quality Assurance

All Early Years and Childcare and Play settings should continually review the quality of their provision. Reflecting on provision and practice is a driver for continuous improvement. Taking part on one of the Cwlwm partner’s quality assurance schemes will help you to self evaluate your service and plan for improvement.

A quality mark will show parents and funders that you aim beyond the National Minimum Standard required for CIW registration and that you aspire to provide a high quality service where parents and families can feel confident in the learning and play opportunities offered.

- e-Quality Counts & Quality Improvement Programmes

NDNA offers two quality improvement solutions to enable nurseries to strive for outstanding practice: e-Quality Counts, a comprehensive and full quality improvement accreditation scheme, and individual Quality Improvement Programmes for settings which want to improve quality in priority areas. The NDNA quality assurance scheme fully meets the Welsh Government’s proposed framework for their expectations of a childcare quality assurance scheme in Wales.

What is e-Quality Counts?

e-Quality Counts is NDNA’s quality improvement scheme created specifically for nurseries. e-Quality Counts supports nurseries to review all aspects of their care, early education and business to ensure they are providing the best care possible to children and their families from working with babies to out of school care. e-Quality Counts is a rigorous quality improvement scheme and assessment process which involves the whole staff team. It is endorsed with a certification mark from the Intellectual Properties Office as a robust assessment and verification process and is CPD UK certified. Once nurseries have completed all sections of the scheme via an online assessment tool, the nursery submits their portfolio for accreditation against the e-Quality Counts Standards and receives an onsite visit from an independent assessor who will observe practice in all areas of the nursery. Nurseries who achieve e-Quality Counts are awarded at levels 1, 2 and 3 with 3 being the highest. Nurseries who achieve the e-Quality Counts accreditation are demonstrating ongoing commitment to excellent care and early education above the standards required by the regulator. The e- Quality Counts accreditation is valid for three years after which nurseries then need to be re-accredited.

Quality improvement programmes

NDNA’s quality improvement programmes are targeted and manageable to help nurseries take small steps to improve the quality of your nursery practice and the sustainability of your business.

The programmes help nurseries to reflect on and develop practices against a set of quality standards through online training and links to resources. This helps nurseries to build up an online portfolio of evidence, policies and procedures to support the quality journey..

The programmes will enable you to run a healthy, happy sustainable business by developing team work, staff morale and children’s outcomes.
